The A1/A3 category costs 600 SEK for a 40-question exam with a 75 percent pass threshold, done fully online. The A2 category costs 850 SEK, or 600 SEK if the pilot has already paid for A1/A3, but must be taken in person at an authorized drone school even though Transportstyrelsen itself owns the test bank.
The minimum age is 15 for solo flying and 16 for supervising others. A failed exam costs 600 SEK to retake, and renewal costs 550 SEK. Sweden publishes the most complete official fee schedule of any European country researched.
Civil drone operation in Sweden is regulated by Transportstyrelsen (the Swedish Transport Agency), which runs every stage of the process itself rather than delegating to another body, under EU Regulation 2019/947 plus national fee regulation TSFS 2024:78.
The credential is called a drönarkort (drone card), issued digitally and valid 5 years. Registering as an operator costs 190 SEK to apply plus 250 SEK a year.
