The A1/A3 category costs a fixed 31 euros, covering up to 4 exam attempts, for a 40-question exam in 60 minutes with a 75 percent pass threshold, resulting in an Attestato di pilota remoto valid 5 years. The A2 category is an additional 30-question proctored exam, also 60 minutes, for the same 31 euro fee covering 5 attempts, resulting in the Certificato di competenza Pilota remoto UAS-A2.
Civil drone operation in Italy is regulated by the Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazione Civile (ENAC) under EU Regulation 2019/947 plus the national UAS-IT regulation. Aircraft registration runs through the D-Flight portal, operated by ENAV, while pilot exams run through a separate ENAC Servizi WEB portal.
