How to become a pilot

Brazil does not issue a conventional pilot license for small drones. Under the current RBAC 100 rule, you register the drone in ANAC's SISANT system if it weighs more than 250 grams, and you pass ANAC's free online theory exam, which is required for remote pilots of non-exempt drones. Before every flight you also request airspace access from DECEA through its SARPAS system, which is required for all drones and clears simple daytime flights automatically.

Only the certified category requires formal certification of the aircraft, operator, and pilot; solo operation is effectively for adults, with under-18s supervised.

About the regulation

In Brazil, civil drone operation is regulated by ANAC (the National Civil Aviation Agency), which handles aircraft registration and certification, and by DECEA (the Airspace Control Department), which controls airspace access. Any drone with a maximum takeoff weight above 250 g must be registered in ANAC's SISANT system under RBAC-E nº 94; registration is free and renewed every two years.

Before flying, operators must request airspace-access authorization through DECEA's SARPAS system, governed by ICA 100-40.

Confirm current requirements on the authority's official site before you enroll or fly.

This page is for general orientation and may not reflect the latest regulatory changes. It is not legal advice: confirm current rules, fees, and permitted zones with your country's civil aviation authority before you fly.
