In Mexico the credential is an AFAC remote-pilot authorization or license, sized to the drone's weight, under NOM-107-SCT3-2019. You must be at least 18, hold a valid psychophysical fitness certificate, and complete a theory-and-practice course at an AFAC-recognized training center.
The course includes a minimum of 13 flight hours, and AFAC then administers a theoretical and a practical exam. The authorization is valid for three years.
Civil drone operation in Mexico is regulated by the Agencia Federal de Aviación Civil (AFAC) under the official standard NOM-107-SCT3-2019, which sets the requirements for operating a remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) in Mexican airspace. Drones weighing 250 grams or more must be registered with AFAC, which issues a registration folio after the owner submits the RPAS registration form and proof of ownership through AFAC's official channel.
Heavier drones and commercial operations carry additional requirements, including pilot authorization and civil-liability insurance, and AFAC classifies operations by weight and use.
