El Salvador regulates by operating category rather than a single pilot exam. For the open category, which covers most recreational and standard aerial-work flying, there is no AAC exam: you register yourself and the aircraft through the AAC's forms, and aerial work also requires third-party liability insurance and a flight logbook.
The minimum age is 16 for recreational use, with notarized parental authorization, or 18 for aerial work. Higher-risk operations require the operator to hold a CORPAS certificate, which builds pilot training into an AAC-approved program.
Drone operation in El Salvador is regulated by the Autoridad de Aviación Civil (AAC) through its RAC-RPAS regulation. Both recreational and non-recreational operators must register their aircraft with the AAC, and non-recreational (private or commercial) use additionally requires an operator certificate.
Standard rules include daytime, visual-line-of-sight flight, altitude and speed limits, and restricted zones around airports, military sites, prisons, and public gatherings.
