Guatemala does not yet run an individual pilot exam or license. Today the DGAC's drone services are registration and permits: a technical opinion on whether your drone must be registered, a flight authorization for visiting operators, and a special-operations permit for companies.
The DGAC has announced a future pilot certificate under a new RAC 107 rule and has begun training its inspectors, but that exam is not yet open to apply for. For now the practical step is registering the aircraft and following the DGAC's operating limits.
Drone operation in Guatemala is regulated by the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC). Drones must be registered with the DGAC, and operators must respect altitude limits (generally 400 feet above ground level) and restricted zones such as airports, government and military sites, hospitals, and prisons.
The DGAC has advanced a dedicated regulation for remotely piloted aircraft operations, RAC 107, through public consultation to formalize operator and remote-pilot requirements.
This page is for general orientation and may not reflect the latest regulatory changes. It is not legal advice: confirm current rules, fees, and permitted zones with your country's civil aviation authority before you fly.
